Lodge Farm, Barnard Castle, Durham
Caravan Holiday Park Information
Lodge Farm is a small livestock farm in beautiful Teesdale countryside 2 miles from the A66 trans-Pennine route and 5 miles from Barnard Castle. The farm runs Highland cattle and Hebridean sheep.
The Bluebird Deluxe static caravan is the only caravan on site (although the farm has another holiday let) and is in a picturesque situation close to the farm but overlooking the fields towards the River Greta. This stretch of the river is known as Brignall Banks and was immortalised by Sir Walter Scott in his poem 'Rokeby'. The path by the Greta was described as "one of the most solitary and delightful riverside walks in the country" in Douglas M Ramsden's book 'Teesdale'.
Lodge Farm is ideally situated, close to the Market Town of Barnard Castle with its shops, restaurants, leisure centre, golf club and, of course, the world famous Bowes Museum; there are also numerous country pubs and lots to see and do. There is a wide variety of birdlife (around 60 species have been identified) and there are walks on and from the farm.
